FOGGIT FG-101 12 oz high-performance engine fogging oil can

Foggit vs STA-BIL vs AMSOIL: Choosing Engine Fogging Oil

Foggit, STA-BIL and AMSOIL all offer engine fogging oils intended for internal protection during storage. Choosing between them starts with your engine's storage procedure, the product label and the support you need. This guide compares their published positioning; it is not a laboratory performance test.

EDO Performance sells Foggit. We have not independently tested these three products against one another for corrosion resistance, film life or engine wear.

Compare the intended applications

Product Published positioning What to check before buying
FOGGIT FG-101 High-performance and racing-engine protection between events and during storage. Your builder's application method, storage conditions and number of engines to treat.
STA-BIL Fogging Oil 22001 Storage protection for two- and four-cycle gasoline engines, including automotive, marine and small engines. The label's directions and the engine manufacturer's storage procedure.
AMSOIL Engine Fogging Oil FOGSC Protection of internal engine components during storage and extended inactivity across seasonal equipment and vehicles. The engine owner's manual and the product's application instructions.

Each is offered in a 12 oz aerosol format. Package size alone does not establish equivalent coverage, protection duration or suitability.

When to consider Foggit

Foggit's positioning is particularly relevant to owners preparing a racing or built engine for downtime. If you already work with an engine builder, start with that builder's recommendation. EDO can help you locate the product guidance and choose a pack for an individual car, several vehicles or workshop use.

Does intake application make Foggit unique?

No. Foggit describes intake-tract delivery as a feature, but STA-BIL also publishes intake application directions. Those instructions are specific to each product and do not establish that the same method is appropriate for every modern or modified engine.

For a turbocharged or direct-injected performance car, confirm the delivery route and the complete storage procedure before applying any fogging oil.

How to compare value

Compare the delivered cost, quantity you need, available technical guidance and the product your builder recommends. A lower-priced can may be suitable for one application; paying more does not by itself prove better protection.

At EDO, Foggit is available as a single can, two-can pack, three-can pack or twelve-can case. Check current Foggit prices and availability. Shipping and tax are calculated at checkout; EDO ships this item within the United States only.

Questions to answer before ordering

  • What engine and fuel are you using?
  • How long will the engine sit, and in what conditions?
  • Does the manufacturer or builder recommend fogging?
  • What application and restart procedure must be followed?
  • Are you treating one engine or several?

Frequently asked questions

Is fogging oil the same as fuel stabilizer?

No. Fogging oil is intended for internal surface protection during storage; fuel stabilizer is intended to address fuel storage. Follow each product's label and the engine's storage instructions.

Which fogging oil is best for my built engine?

There is no universal winner established by this comparison. Follow the engine builder's recommendation and select a product and application method that fit that engine and its storage conditions.

Will fogging oil restore compression or fix rust damage?

Do not treat a storage protectant as a repair for an existing engine problem. Suspected corrosion or compression loss calls for diagnosis.
