VW / Audi MQB Turbo Buyer’s Guide: IHX475 vs IHX600 vs IHX675

Choosing a VW / Audi MQB turbo upgrade means selecting IHX475, IHX600 or IHX675 DCBB, then confirming the package contents. IHX475 and IHX600 have Turbo Only and Turbo Kit options; the IHX675 listing here is the complete TR-TW1007 kit. Match the exact EA888 application, current hardware, fuel and installation/calibration plan before ordering.

EDO Performance and Tomioka Racing share ownership. This guide compares the published product specifications and the parts actually listed in each package. It does not present a matched dyno test or a guaranteed power result.

Sources: the manufacturer's IHX475, IHX600 and IHX675 specifications. These capability ratings are not measured wheel horsepower or operating limits for your engine or transmission.

The housing specifications, bearing design and model numbers alone do not establish the response or output of your complete vehicle. When comparing performance examples, identify the vehicle, fuel, calibration, dyno and test conditions. Agree on response, intended use and power goals with the tuner before choosing the hardware.

Which turbo should you request a quote for?

IHX475: start here when the installer and tuner have matched its configuration to your goals. Compare the Turbo Only package with the fuller Turbo Kit against the parts already fitted to your vehicle.

IHX600: request a complete-build quote when the tuner identifies a need for this configuration and its advertised capability. The complete Turbo Kit has 10 available at this check; confirm physical availability for the untracked Turbo Only variant.

IHX675 DCBB: compare this model when the build plan calls for its dual ceramic ball-bearing design and the published 10 cm² housing / 675 HP capability. The complete TR-TW1007 kit has 10 available at this check. Ask the tuner to assess the full hardware, fueling, cooling and drivetrain requirements rather than choosing by the highest model number alone.

A change between models is a hardware and calibration decision, even when the application lists overlap. If your goal is to restore a failed factory setup, compare a factory-specification replacement quote alongside the performance-upgrade plan.

Turbo Only vs Complete Turbo Kit: what is included?

Package Listed contents Applies to
Turbo Only Turbocharger, gaskets and hardware kit IHX475 TR-TW1003; IHX600 TR-TW1006
Complete Turbo Kit Turbocharger, gaskets, hardware kit, black aluminum turbo inlet pipe, stock diverter-valve adapter kit and turbo muffler delete IHX475 TR-TW1002; IHX600 TR-TW1005
IHX675 Complete Turbo Kit IHX675 DCBB turbocharger, gaskets, hardware kit, black aluminum turbo inlet pipe, stock diverter-valve adapter kit and turbo muffler delete TR-TW1007; no separate Turbo Only option is listed on this EDO product

These packages are turbocharger and associated installation-component packages. A Turbo Kit label does not establish that ECU tuning, software licenses, an intercooler, fueling upgrades or installation labor are included. Review those separately.

The listings identify compatibility with IS20 / IS38 wastegate and diverter-valve components. Have the installer confirm the exact parts transferred or supplied and the applicable actuator setup for your vehicle.

Confirm the MQB and EA888 application

The published application lists cover selected VW Golf Mk7 / Golf R, Audi A3 / S3 8V and TT / TTS Mk3 configurations, plus selected Seat Leon/Cupra and Skoda Octavia/vRS models. They do not make every vehicle with an EA888 engine or an MQB-related badge compatible.

Send the exact year, chassis, engine code, transmission, original turbo part number and current modifications. Include the intake, exhaust, cooling, fueling and boost-control hardware. A previous turbo conversion or engine swap needs its own review.

Compare the complete installed project

  • Diagnosis: if the current turbo has failed, identify the cause and quote the corrective work.
  • Parts: specify the turbo model, package SKU, transferred parts and any additional gaskets, lines, fluids and fasteners.
  • Supporting systems: review intake/exhaust connections, fueling, cooling, boost control and drivetrain requirements for the chosen setup.
  • Calibration: agree on the hardware and fuel with the tuner; identify software, licenses, setup and testing separately.
  • Installation: identify labor, any vehicle-specific work and expected downtime.
  • Responsibilities: distinguish product warranty terms from service and workmanship warranties.

Installation, service estimates, scheduling and service warranties are handled by Edo Auto Repair, as described on the service page. EDO Performance handles parts enquiries.

IHX475 / IHX600 buyer questions

Are IHX600 and IHX675 complete kits available?

Yes. The dated check above shows 10 IHX600 Complete Turbo Kits (TR-TW1005) and 10 IHX675 Complete Turbo Kits (TR-TW1007). IHX600 Turbo Only (TR-TW1006) is untracked and orderable online; confirm physical availability. Follow the live product variants and confirm dispatch and installation timing before planning the job.

Does IHX475 mean 475 wheel horsepower?

No measured wheel-horsepower result is established by that model name. The published 475 HP figure is a manufacturer capability rating. Assess the completed setup and test conditions separately.

Should I buy Turbo Only because I already have aftermarket parts?

Have the installer compare those exact parts with the selected turbo first. Owning an aftermarket inlet or valve does not, by itself, confirm compatibility or a complete installation package.

Can EDO help choose between the two?

Yes. Start with your vehicle, use, available fuel and budget in the MQB turbo quote request. Ask for the required parts and work to be separated from optional upgrades.
