The VW 508 00 / 509 00 specification is not backward compatible with earlier Volkswagen oil standards. It must not be substituted for oils requiring specifications such as VW 502 00, VW 504 00, VW 505 00, or VW 507 00 unless the vehicle documentation specifically permits it.
