Motul Classic SAE 50 is a mineral monograde lubricant formulated for classic gasoline and diesel 4-stroke engines and transmissions built between 1900 and 1950. It is suitable for compatible vintage cars, collector vehicles, prewar automobiles, and classic motorcycles requiring an SAE 50 monograde oil.

Its very low-detergent formulation is designed for older lubrication systems and provides compatibility with traditional paper, felt, and fabric gaskets. The controlled detergent level helps avoid aggressively loosening accumulated soot and deposits inside older lubrication circuits.

This package includes six 2-liter bottles, providing a total of 12 liters for restoration workshops, vintage-vehicle collections, repeated maintenance services, and compatible high-capacity applications.

WHY THIS OIL:

The mineral monograde SAE 50 formulation provides a strong lubricating film for compatible early engine and transmission designs operating in suitable ambient temperatures.

Its very low detergent level supports compatibility with older engines that may contain accumulated deposits and use period-style filtration or lubrication systems.

Compatibility with brass, bronze, copper, and other nonferrous metals makes it suitable for many vintage engines and transmissions containing traditional internal components.

Reinforced oil adherence leaves a protective lubricating film on internal surfaces, supporting easier startup after extended periods of storage or immobilization.

It can also be used as a break-in oil for compatible classic engines when a shortened drain interval is followed.

BEST FOR:

Vintage and collector vehicles built between 1900 and 1950

Ancestor, Veteran, Vintage, Prewar, and early Classic vehicles

Compatible gasoline and diesel 4-stroke engines

Compatible classic motorcycle engines

Older manual transmissions requiring an appropriate SAE 50 monograde lubricant

Engines using traditional paper, felt, or fabric gaskets

Applications containing brass, bronze, copper, or other nonferrous components

Restoration shops, collectors, and workshops requiring a 12-liter package

FITMENT AND COMPATIBILITY NOTE:

Use only in engines or transmissions specifically requiring an appropriate SAE 50 monograde mineral lubricant.

This product is designed for lubrication technologies commonly used between 1900 and 1950, but compatibility can vary by vehicle, engine, transmission, restoration specification, ambient temperature, and mechanical condition.

Confirm the required viscosity, lubricant type, oil capacity, and maintenance interval through the vehicle manual, workshop documentation, restoration specialist, or engine builder before use.

Because SAE 50 is a high-viscosity monograde oil, it may not be suitable for cold-weather operation or systems requiring a multigrade lubricant.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Change the lubricant at least once per year, with shorter intervals where required by mileage, contamination, fuel dilution, operating conditions, or extended storage.

When used as a break-in oil, shorten the drain interval according to the engine builder’s procedure.

Do not use in modern engines or transmissions unless SAE 50 mineral monograde oil is specifically permitted.

Do not select this product solely by vehicle age. Always verify the lubrication requirements of the exact engine or transmission.
