Motul Classic Performance 20W-50 is a premium mineral multigrade engine oil developed for classic gasoline and diesel engines built primarily between 1950 and 1970.
It is suitable for period-correct 4-stroke gasoline and diesel engines, including naturally aspirated or turbocharged applications using carburetors or fuel injection. Its SAE 20W-50 viscosity and API SF/CC performance are designed around the lubrication requirements of classic engine technology.
The formulation combines high-zinc ZDDP content above 1,800 ppm with molybdenum additives to protect critical components such as flat tappets, high-lift camshafts, bearings, and other heavily loaded engine parts.
WHY THIS OIL:

FITMENT AND COMPATIBILITY NOTE:
Use only in engines requiring SAE 20W-50 mineral engine oil with a performance level compatible with API SF/CC.
This product is designed around classic engine technologies and manufacturer requirements commonly used between 1950 and 1970. Compatibility should be confirmed using the vehicle owner’s manual, workshop documentation, or engine-builder specifications.
The thicker SAE 20W-50 viscosity may be especially appropriate for compatible larger-displacement or high-mileage engines with increased oil consumption, but it should not be selected solely based on vehicle age.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
This oil is rated API SF and is generally not suitable for most gasoline-powered automotive engines built after 1988. Modern engines may require newer specifications for sludge, oxidation, emissions-system, and wear protection.
Change the engine oil at least once per year, with shorter intervals where required by mileage, fuel dilution, operating conditions, competition use, or extended storage.
This oil can be mixed with compatible synthetic or mineral engine oils when necessary. A complete oil and filter change is preferred for consistent lubricant performance.
Always verify the required viscosity grade, API performance level, engine oil capacity, and service interval before use.
