Motul CLASSIC SAE 50 (Before 1950) Mineral Low-Detergent Classic Oil – 2L Iron Can (104510)
Motul CLASSIC SAE 50 (Before 1950) — Mineral Monograde, Low-Detergent Protection for Vintage Engines (2L)
Motul CLASSIC SAE 50 is a mineral monograde lubricant specially formulated for classic gasoline or diesel 4-stroke engines and transmissions built before 1950—ideal for ancestor / veteran / vintage / prewar vehicles that require a SAE 50 viscosity oil.
This is a modern take on a period-correct oil: it’s engineered with a very low detergent level to stay compatible with older sealing materials and oil circuits, while using a high zinc (ZDDP) additive package (>1800 ppm) to support strong anti-wear protection for original or rebuilt classic engines.
Why it sells:
-
Designed for pre-1950 engines + transmissions (gasoline or diesel 4T)
-
Very low detergent helps avoid removing soot/deposits in older lubricating circuits
-
Compatible with paper / felt / fabric gaskets commonly used in that era
-
Compatible with “yellow metals” like brass, bronze, and copper
-
High ZDDP (>1800 ppm) for strong anti-wear protection (classic engine friendly)
-
SAE 50 viscosity developed to help reduce oil leakage, maintain consistent oil pressure, and reduce oil consumption in classic vehicles
-
Reinforced adherence to help with easier starts after long storage/immobilization
-
Can be used as break-in oil when drain intervals are shortened
